One year ago, today…ok nothing, no post for March 1st but there was one for March 3rd.

I just checked the Bujold Nexus and the anthology Irresistible Forces is due out in Feb 2004.

I had completely forgotten about this book. I want it and I want it now. Ok, I don’t want a large size, I want a little paperback or I want to borrow a copy. I wanna read it, that’s what I really want. I am a little surprised I haven’t been re-reminded of this from my usual sources. Could I be aware of something they have forgotten?

The sequel to The Curse of Chalion, which is titled Paladin of Souls is due out fall of 2003.

I just finished reading both of these (re-reading Curse, reading Paladin for the first time). I love them and can highly recommend them. Lois is a god. I have been saying this for years now but once again I am reminded that it is not just something I spout. Besides the interesting story/setting and the wonderful characterization, I am very impressed with the theology behind the workings of the world. I am not sure it was carefully crafted or just what comes out of her word processor, either way, it is wonderful. Many things resonate and many things I dismiss because I can see them from outside myself. That, to me, is the mark of a good science fiction/fantasy book. To present things in a different setting so that you can see them in a new light.

I have others that I really like, but these are the ones that I will read slowly (if I can force myself to) so that I can savor every bite. I think it is humorous that it is very female based (Sharon and Steve are a couple that write together).
