heat = sick?

Well, I managed to get 3 hours of sleep then I got sick. Total so far is at least 16 hrs sleep, 24 hours awake, 3 hrs sleep. I have been planning on going into the City 4-5am to catch pre-dawn at the Palace of Fine Arts to take pictures. I don’t know if that is going to happen.

Lost all of the salad I ate for dinner and whatever else I had in my system. It has been a long time since I have thrown up. I understand why it is used for the Exorcist, it feels like it is being done to you rather than something you are doing. It is a good thing the bathtub is right next to the toilet, since I was losing it out of both ends. Being alone when you are sick sucks because you have to take care of yourself. There was a lot of undigested food so it couldn’t be washed down the drain. The joy of just being sick and then needing to scoop it into the toilet and wash the tub is not something I wish to repeat often. I am actually grateful that it wasn’t very digested. There wasn’t much stomach acid and it smelled more like food than vomit.

I doubt I will be going near vegetables any time soon. Which is a real shame. I really enjoyed my salad of many things. I watched some PBS cooking show and was remembering how much I used to cook/prep meals. I had just picked up many fresh veggies and made a wonderful salad. I had two plate fulls. Lots of oil and vinegar. The lettuce was a little old, a few of the pieces were pink. I am not feeling the after affects of food poisoning so I don’t think it was that. But it was a lot of fresh, uncooked vegetables when my diet doesn’t have many and I am sure my body was not very happy with me. Add too much heat and over the edge I go. It is just over 80 degrees inside my apartment. I am debating if sleeping in the car might be a possibility. But it was 84 degrees outside according to Yahoo weather. That is two degrees higher than the high temp predicted for tomorrow. Today it at least got up to 96 which is 7 degrees higher than the predicted high. I hate these three day stints. I wonder if this is it for this year or if we will have one in Sept/Oct that will take SF into 100.

Another reminder that I don’t handle heat well. I don’t handle being sick well either and ended up talking to my dad for 3 hours who calmed me down and distracted me. Feeling better now. Still not happy but no longer feeling like I don’t know how to get through the next hour. Bleh.

  1. It may not make you feel better – but it is a bug going around. I have friends in the Bay Area with it as well as friends on the East Coast.
    3-5 days. Evil. From both ends. Keep a bowl or trashcan around for those “must choose” moments – bowls are easier to clean than tubs or floors.
    (((hug)))) take care of you!!

    1. Not having seen anyone for days, I doubt that I got a bug. And I seem to have gotten off a lot lighter than those I have heard about.

      A normal bowl wouldn’t have cut it. I would have needed one of my big mixing bowls. I didn’t even have a clue I would need anything until I was in the middle of the issue with the other end. I was amazed at how much volume there was.

      I still blame the heat and the drastic change in the type of food I ate.

      Turns out my dad is now having issues with heat. He is having a lot of the same problems I used to have leading to me needing to move away from Colorado. It is good that he lives on the coast of OR. I get to blame his genes but since it happened to me first, I tell him he gets it from me.
