How old am I?

Today, I was mistaken for an older teen or young adult. At 30 I got guesses of 18 and 19. After 37, the guesses of much younger than reality stopped so I assumed I started to look my age.

The down side to this looking younger thing is the gentleman (older gent around 70s maybe) mistook me for a growing boy.

So I can look younger if I am willing to switch genders. I thought I was too old for even the gender switch to work anymore. Ha!

  1. Tonight, my daughter – who is 6 1/2 and in 1st grade – was telling me about how she met a nice kindergartner at school and helped her on the swings.

I told her the story of how I met you. The one thing I totally owe Molly for… because you were 6 and I was 5 when we met. How amazing is that?

You are timeless, my friend. It’s your innate light that fools people – not the outer shell! :)

      1. me too on both!!

It has been a busy and strange year – but good. Life took me in some strange directions, but I have to say I’m happy to be on the path I’m on right now – it allows me to try things I’d never have a shot at any other way.

        But I miss you nonetheless!!

When things slow down a bit? I might just have to come “kidnap” you for a nice, mellow, just us girls playing catchup weekend. :)

        Miss you, sistah!!

    1. Oh come on, we’ve known this for years! It isn’t like we haven’t worn each other’s clothes, been mistaken for each other, etc. We typically swap lengths of hair (me long, him short or him long, me short) but at this time we seem to be approaching the same length at the same time.

    1. But it’s been the same with me….in my late 20′s I was regularly mistaken for a teenager, but the past couple of years the guesses are usually my actual age. Not sure why, since I don’t think I look so different. I’ve wondered if there’s something subtle I’m not seeing that everybody else notices.

      1. I thought you were younger becausen sometimes reading your journal it was like looking into a mirror from that past. I think I got a cheat too though. I think somewhere you put in something that gave me an clue to your actual age. :)

I found that as I became more present and less bouncy the age appearance aproached the age reality. I really do think that the amount of energy I put out, the bouncing, the huge amounts of joy that would pour off of me contributed to me appearing younger.

Now, I am much quieter, stiller, more grounded, less excitable. In some ways it isn’t as much fun. I wouldn’t say I was happy. But it has much deeper meaning and connection and there is no way I would want to go back. Where I am now is worth so much more than any fun I have ever had. And I feel it is a path to what I really want to get to.

FYI, my current age is 43. I have been working hard at this growth stuff for 6 years. I haven’t gotten a guess higher yet but people are very careful about not doing that so I don’t think that counts very much towards how I am perceived.
