Worldcon 2008 Denvention

I have decided (and undecided and decided and reversed and… and… and…) that going to Worldcon this year would not be a good idea for me.

I have a membership for the convention and need to sell it. I figured I would start here. I would rather pass it onto someone I know than some stranger.

Denvention
Denver CO
August 6-10th 2008
$175

The current price is $200 and after July 10th, only one day memberships will be available.

It looks like a great con. I just am not in a place where I can deal with the con, the heat in Denver early Aug and the other things I was planning to do when I was out there which put all this into motion.

Anybody want a membership?

Edit: D’oh, I unFriend locked this. I forgot that there are others that would be interested that aren’t on my Friends list. What do you mean I don’t know everyone like us?

  1. :(

Is there a time you would like to come out here?
I was really hoping to go meet LMB with you.

    Also, are you sure?
I know that you are in a really bad space right now – but the heat is not bad at all this summer – and we do have a centrally air-conditioned house.

    (((((((hug)))))))

    1. Sadly, I am sure. It is a combo of things.

I am still burned out on cons and not looking forward to the actual convention.
I have seen LMB and Sharon Lee and Steve Miller and while I love their writing, seeing authors doesn’t really do much for me. Another favorite is going to be there, Tanya Huff.
I am not looking forward to the travel.
The main concept was to clean out my old room and it doesn’t have AC.
I am not all that social and don’t think I do well in large groups of people right now. This makes hanging out with old friends and meeting new con people more an exercise in frustration than a good thing.

I thought about rescheduling until fall/winter time but since I am having a horrible time keeping my current living space livable, I figured sorting through old stuff and packing some and getting rid of some is probably more than I can handle. Until my day to day living becomes smoother, cleaning up the past should wait.

I almost always feel I can do more than I get done. In this case I question if I can get it done. To me, that means it likely isn’t going to work.

I have a hard time letting go of the event. I have been planning it for some time. I am going to miss seeing you and one other person, visiting some old haunts and visiting my dentist. I did plan this for the last time I visited Colorado. Unless something changes for me, travel that takes more than a day via rail is over my limit.

So, am I going to see you when you are out here?

  2. hello can we wrangle!

I’d be interested in your membership. I live in lodo and work at tattered cover and so am strapped for funds but feel I cannot pass up this opportunity. Would you be willing to wrangle a little or are you set on the price?

And yeah it’s been REALLY hot!

    1. Re: hello can we wrangle!

I worked at the Tattered Cover one Xmas. Loved that job. Love that place.

I am not set on the price, I would like to be but I don’t have to be. What do you think you can afford?

      1. Re: hello can we wrangle!

Is it an “attending” membership? How about $150? You could call me here at work. I’d say leave a message on my cel but I think I broke it. I contacted denvention and they said we need to do online transfer by friday-tomorrow. my personal email is dr.andreas@comcast.net and we can make arrangments.

P.S.- did we work together?- I’ve been with TC since 1993.

      3. tried calling back

sorry i missed your voicemail yesterday.
I tried calling you at work today-do you work fridays?
I’m at the Tattered cover again till 5 tonight- I will check my Vmail, But do ask staff to page the colfax manager phone- then you wont have to leave a message.

        Cheers and TGIF,
