New TV season

Well, I have managed to watch lots of television and still haven’t had to resort to any reality shows, none. Not even Project Runway. Woo Hoo! And no DVDs of shows or movies. I am using only my lovely TiVo.

I am currently addicted to NCIS and catching up on past seasons so that helps.

I finally caught up on New Amsterdam. I had TiVo’ed it but was leary of actually spending time watching the show because it has gotten poor reviews, from both a newspaper critic I like and friends. Damn, I love this show. It hits the right buttons and the complains I remember are taken care of as the show continues. I am savoring each episode with the assumption that they will be the only ones ever to exist.

I feel somewhat the same way about Moonlight except I can see where it is a poor quality show. It might even survive for a second season but I am not expecting it to.

It is so sad to see good quality shows on Fox get the axe and then have poor quality shows on the big networks survive. I don’t understand those network executives.

My current TV show listing is as follows:
Kyle XY
Medium
New Amsterdam
NCIS
House
Bones
Reaper (sometimes)
One Tree Hill
CSI (original only)
Men in Trees
Ugly Betty
Dr Who
Numbers
Ghost Whisperer
Stargate: Atlantis

Fill in when there is free time:
Law & Order (I like CI best but sometimes watch the original and SVU)
Comics Unleashed

And will watch when/if they ever come back:
Dead Zone
4400
Moonlight
Heroes
Brothers $ Sisters
Burn Notice
The Closer
Show Me Yours
Bliss
Blood Ties
Torchwood (I have to catch the download since I don’t have BBC America)

I feel like I am leaving things out and I have spent too much time already researching this stuff. If only I was at home with my TiVo in front of me. *le sigh*

  1. I agree with New Amsterdam. Its clever, and they don’t run the usual immortal games with the hero. Although I found his convention for naming his dogs kinda freaky.

House and NCIS are pretty good as well, and L&O:SVU is my favorite of that group.

    1. I like the freaky dog naming convention. But I think it was too long between the two dogs they introduced (can’t remember the names/numbers). So I wonder if there are times he doesn’t have a dog or if he has a different breed of dog and those get a different series of numbers. Yes, we fans have fun thinking these things through.

I would watch a lot more L&O:SVU except it is so dark. The problem with the crime shows is they pump such negative things into my head, mostly murder. SVU more so than the others. I like CI because Goren is so odd and comes at things from strange directions. He reminds me of my friends and I like that.

    1. I didn’t start on Lost at the beginning because there were so many things to catch that season. And then it got so popular, I figured it would be a show I wouldn’t care much about (my shows are the low rated ones, not the high rated ones). By the time I thought it would be worth catching up on, it very clearly was shown that while some things got answered, there were always things that were left up in the air. I don’t like suspense so the week to week wondering doesn’t appeal to me and I don’t trust the networks to actually tie everything up before they yank the plug, whenever that will be.

I might watch it when it is all said and done. But I don’t feel any draw to it at this time. I also don’t watch 24 for that same “don’t like suspense” thing.

I am kinda shocked with myself. I watched a couple and now I am addicted to it as well.
Though I mean with a smart geeky girl like “Abby” whats not to love about that show.

    1. I am watching the ones where Gibbs is dealing with recovering from being shot by a terrorist. Man, oh man, he is really messed up. He usually is messed up in a way I like. Under this stress, he is messed up and it is coming out in a bad way. I don’t like it when they are like this.

Abby is a dream at all times. Upset, happy, serious. She is very in tune and gets away with much and that is good.
