Grrr Arrg Bark

Here I am recovering from surgery. Sometimes it goes well, sometimes it goes not so well. Pain is always involved. I am currently around someone very involved in SMOF-dom and I am getting all excited about getting some work done for upcoming conventions.

Baycon has asked me to do the Program Book for Baycon 2007. It is pretty last minute but I am sure I can handle it if I have the content in a timely manner. I have lots and lots of questions and I am not hearing from people. Some of that is that I have a time dilation issue where a long time for me is a short time for them because I am sitting on my thumbs and they have things like “real” life to deal with. But part of this could very well be the fan patented tendency to put things off and be disorganized. I feel like I have some basic questions I need answered before I can really start and I have nothing. So it is grrr bark bark.

Baycon staff is great at handling emergencies. The drawback to this is that things are left alone until they become emergencies. I don’t work like that. I panic so much earlier and try to make things run as smoothly as possible. I would like to give the benefit of the doubt to everyone that I don’t have content and answers because they haven’t had a chance to get them to me. But I do wonder if I need to kick things into emergency mode so it can at least get in my hands.

It is close to emergency level because it is running so close to the deadline and I don’t know what energy I will have available but I am also confident in handling not in emergency mode if my conditions can be met.

Edit: Then I feel very silly when I actually get the responses I have been asking for after I start ranting about it. I have gotten some of the information I need and at least something to work on while I wait for more. Thank you Michael

    1. I don’t think I have anything yet. Having additional copies would be just fine by me. Feel free to send it to my LJ username at yahoo.com.

And include anything special you want done with them if there is anything.

      Thanks.

    1. I appears I have hit the right amount of buttons to get something started.

It is a problem with fan stuff but I do like doing these things and they look great in my portfolio.

  1. Given that they’re only just getting around to asking me what panels I’m willing to do for them, I’m not surprised you don’t have the information you need for the program book. Oy…

    1. hee hee hee, you did make me wonder if I didn’t post something. But you were busy. I be fine but I hurt.

I did spend some time with Ken’s dogs and one of them reminded me of River. I was concerned before going over there that I would have to be on guard against them because both of them are very HAPPY to see everyone. But it turns out I very much appreciated the attention and I ended up with the River type dog on my lap and chest. He thinks he is a lap dog and I could handle it for awhile. And it felt good. :)

I thought of you and I figured you would appreciate the story.

    1. Baycon also asked me to do tech for 2007 and I smartly declined. I am waiting to see how I am after the con high wears off before I take anything on for 2008.

I think it is funny that this post was April 17 and around May 5th the program book blew into emergency mode like I suspected it would. If (and I am still saying “if”) I take on the book for 2008 many things will be different.

On the different note, you sure seem to be impressed with how easy I am to find on LJ.

        1. I could say I am so difficult in so many areas, that I had to be easy in something… Or I could just say I am easy…

Curious, which route did you take to find me?

BTW now that I have a reliable connection, you have been friended and can see all the angst you missed. :)

          1. I wouldn’t say that you’re easy…

I went from ‘s post in the BayCon community asking about the Spartan pics to her user info to your journal.

    1. Re: Surgury? Sounds serious

Not too serious in that it was to remove my tonsils. Serious in that it too me 4 weeks to recover and be functional again. Turns out I am very very sensitive and I will be avoiding any surgery for anything in the future.

It has been a number of years since I have been to the Plough and I remember a number of tall guys but I am not ringing a bell on Chad. The connection might have to wait until until you get more info about you in your journal or until we run into each other in real life.

Sounds like you were out of town for awhile and are back. Welcome back and welcome to our addiction (it comes and goes) of LJ. Thanks for saying hi so I could friend you back. I am curious to the process you found me on your first level search. I like understanding processes and that one sounded interesting.
