I can’t decide if I actually like They Might Be Giants or just want to like them. They are playing at Stern Grove (free summer concerts) and I am debating if I want to go or not.

I like them, but I’m not the kind of ravening fanboy I used to be back when Flood was newly released.
And it’ll be a madhouse, you can be sure of that. A big, geeky madhouse.
The danger twins and I went to see Caravan Palace there and it was nice. True, Caravan Palace doesn’t have the name recognition that They Might Be Giants has but they are beginning to get some play.
I found a good back way into the grove. We sat up on the hillside (my attempt to get to a space where I could escape “interesting” smoke) and it isn’t that far from the flat side of the back of the place. No walking all the way down hill and then climbing to find seating. I never expect to be able to sit near the bottom open space so this works out really well.
I like their older stuff (Flood +/-, more or less) and their newest (last 2-3 years), but I’m not crazy about a lot of what the did in the middle. They’re fun live, though.
Very enjoyable live. I saw them at a smallish venue a couple years ago. But I’ve been an on/off fan since 96 or 97.
I saw them about a decade ago or so. I have been a fan for years. I am just wondering if I am phasing out on them or not.
The show is free and outdoors in a beautiful spot so it might be worth the investment to check it out.
