Success!

I haven’t written up a baycon report yet but I do want to make note that the program book I put together was a huge success. It looked pretty good. There are editing issues I would like to have been able to take care of but if you are not obsessive about detail like my profession is, it looks damn near perfect.

I got a lot of positive comments on it at the con and have been showing it off like a kid with a picture her parents put on the refrigerator.

The powers that be are begging me to do the program book for baycon 2008. The theme is Pirates. Seems that people involved with Baycon have been circulating a list of my buttons on how to get me to do something. I am not sure I can resist this one.

While I have not promised anything, yet, I have done a large amount of research and plans as. I am talking with my command structure and have support so far for my ideas.

This has been a major deal for me personally and professionally and I am grateful for it.

Edit: There is a copy online if people are interested in seeing what I am talking about and didn’t make it to the con to see the original. It is a 96 page pdf.

    1. I probably absconded with it. Since I was the last in the room, I went through and made sure everything was cleaned out. I remember finding an additional program book. I thought it was Dorothy’s since she said I could have hers. It could have been yours. It isn’t like I don’t have another 10+ of them. They take over a section of my bookcase. Over time, hopefully they will dwindle as I give them out and they are replaced with other copies of my work. :)

If you would like a copy, I can put one aside for you. We just have to figure out how to get it to you since the Post Office and I avoid each other.

Being part of Seattle Fandom, do you know Wolfcat? She is a costumer. I will be seeing her and Molly at Loscon and she can play transport. Or if you know anyone coming to Westercon.

It was great reconnecting with you too. I would get misc updates from Dorothy but really didn’t have a clue. I had no idea you had a livejournal or I would have hopped aboard sooner.

  1. In case I didn’t say it at BayCon, the program looked excellent and I hope you do next years.

I mean Pirates as a theme and graphic design, are two of your fav things right? :)

  2. Hey, just a thought: could you scan it and host it online as part of a portfolio? It sounds like it was a lot of work, and well done enough to be an example of what you can do under a tight deadline. Barring that, bring it in to your next interview?

    All that aside, yay!

    1. Bwaaa haaa haaa. I am ahead of you there. The entire thing is online.

This is the interior which is everything I did. It looks much more impressive with the cover. The art is from the Artist Guest of Honor and I can make no claim to it.

It is a large file (the program book is 96 inner pages) and I don’t really know a way to make it more presentable. I am at a loss as to what a pared down version would be like that would be a just a good looking sample.

  3. I’m glad you brought a copy to the dinner party, so I got to see it even if I didn’t go to the con. It was awesome.

BTW, I wasn’t sure if you meant to leave that copy at our house or not. If not, I can drop it in the mail to your friend. Just let me know. :)

    1. As I was walking out, I realized it left it behind and decided that it was ok. I have a lot of copies. I could pick it up later. I will see if Jen would like to have it mailed to her. Thanks.

  4. Gaaneden and I actually spend a few moments talking at Norwescon, determining that we did indeed, know a few folks in common like you, renwench and Keith. *grin*

    Very very nice work dear!
