Well, finances are beginning to get all FUBARed.
Had a talk with my therapist, the end result of a long story I am skipping, my once a week sessions are going from $85 to $115. This results in at least an additional $120 a month for what I have been getting. I haven’t been all that happy with what I have already been getting but it has had some good stuff and there has been a 3 year investment here.
I have been trying to figure out where in my budget I can carve out the additional $110 I need for my new car and now it looks like it should go to therapy. Arrgggg.
The therapist did a really poor job with the news and to me, I feel it is the final straw that broke the camel’s back. That he no longer suits my needs and I need to look elsewhere. I don’t like this but I decided last night that this is the path I am choosing.
Today at work, we got notice that the office move is back on. This is the thing that was going to make me quit. Since then, I have managed to make my job more palatable but I was pretty hard-core about when it was first presented. They want us to move to a floor that has TVs all over and running all day. I am a TVidiot and get sucked in no matter what is on. I consider it a hostile work environment. It is still up in the air but my job is in jeopardy over this.
Is now the right time to be buying a new car?
I think I am putting it off til next weekend to see where these issues lie after they have time to sink in.
Pisser, I was really wanting to get moving on this.
Good news is that I checked with my credit union and I have another pre-approved loan at 3.9% until Feb 4. It will be tight but if the car doesn’t take too much more than 2 weeks to get here, it should be fine.
If you’re not that happy with the results from your therapist, you really should consider changing therapists or perhaps discontinuing therapy and looking at alternate possibilities. (I have no idea what you’re in therapy for, so I don’t really know what to suggest, but there are plenty of para-professionals in various therapy-related fields.)
Sorry to hear about the finacial-fu. The timing does indeed suck, but it sounds like you’ve made the correct decision to hold off on the car purchase.
And I’m right there with you on the vidiot thing. If there’s a television on in the room I can’t concentrate on a thing, no matter what the programming is. Doesn’t matter if it’s bowling, a telethon, or shopping channel; I’m pathologically compelled to watch.
You can’t concentrate on MOST things.
Take it from someone who stayed with a therapist for too long. You are paying them (a lot)for a service. If it’s not working out for you, look for someone new. I think therapists get bored and in a rut and just go through the motions after a while and you need to find a new one sometimes.
Can you mention this TV thing to your boss ? It’s not uncommon. Can you at least have your desk facing so that you are not looking at any TV when you are sitting ?
Sad thing about it is that I can hear the sound of the set being on even if the sound is off. It is like an buzz under my skin, a constant irritation. Having a TV on the floor it enough to drive me nuts. Obviously, you do not have this problem.
