Today, I am having a Tea Party at work for my birthday instead of their typical cool cake tradition. It is my idea so I am providing an awful lot of it. My boss is getting 2 dozen petite fours (we just picked them up and they are sooooo nice, *bouncy bouncy*)and the company has a variety of tea. Before this weekend and currently hiding under my desk, I have gathered: a silver tea set, three layer plate thingy, tea, a spare teapot, silver try w/ doily, plates, tea cup and saucer.

This weekend, in order:

Friday
Dinner with Melinda
Alegria (Cirque du Soleil)

Saturday
Slept in til 11am
Got a hair cut
Deposited coat/birthday money in bank
Library to drop off books and pick up one about my car
Post office to drop off forwarded mail and pick up a change of address card for someone
Got a hot dog at Longs (Top Dog, yum)
Checked Smart&Final for fluorescent pink sweet and sour dipping sauce (you can’t believe how hard it is to find this stuff)
Honey Baked hams for champagne mustard
Grocery store for more tea party stuff
Another grocery store for more tea party stuff
Home to cook
Boiled eggs
Made a meatloaf
Made 3 dozen scones (regular English, Betty’s Diner Lemon Current, and pumpkin spice)
Watched Matrix 2

Sunday
Swept bathroom floor and kitchen floor
Scrubbed bathtub, toilet, sink
Went to storage (added 4 skirts, 3 pairs of pants, 2 shirts to my wardrobe again)
Saw Matrix 3 (Liked it, reminds me of how I feel about the Indian Jones movies)
Grocery store for even more tea party stuff
Dollar store
Another grocery store for more tea party stuff
Made egg salad (after a search on the internet for recipes)
Made curry chicken salad
Cut up cucumber
Cut up brie
Made mock-Devonshire cream
Made rice and shanghai rolls (from frozen) for dinner
Talked briefly with my dad
Watched TV (slowing down you see)
Went to bed at 9pm.

This morning
Made cucumber and butter sandwiches, cut crusts and into four parts
Made brie and green apple sandwiches, cut crusts and into four parts
Made egg salad sandwiches, cut crusts and into four parts (notice a trend?)
Made chicken salad sandwiches, cut crusts and into four parts
Made back-up mock-Devonshire cream
Packed everything up.
Dressed up and shlepped everything to work.

The party is at 4pm today. If it works out even a fraction of what I have put into it, it should be really cool. I think all this effort is to make up for the bad taste I have in my mouth from how last year’s birthday turned out. Everything after my birthday was so sour that it spoiled what nice times I had before and on my birthday. This year is much better. I had a wonderful weekend before my birthday and dinner with friends that I have been meaning to blog about. Pictures are posted.

Over all, it was a good weekend. There were a couple of times where I was actually happy. Discover a smile on my face happy. I have a ok job that gives me money to hit grocery stores over and over. I have all these wonderful cooking things in my kitchen, just what I need. I have all these cool clothes that I can wear again. I have the ability to do what I want when I want it. It felt good to take care of myself and to be able to take care of myself.

[Added note (5:30pm): It went off very well, not perfectly but close enough. It looked great. I can't believe most of the food was decimated. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. I am pleased]
