Here it is, Halloween. A time of year I look forward to each time. I am not enjoying it much this year.
I am stymied by not being able to do things I think I want to do. I probably only want to to them because I know I can’t/shouldn’t. The turn out of costumed folk is even poorer this year than previous years. I have not seen another real costume except for Crystal at that was when we got together for lunch. The complements I am getting seem to be rolling off my back like water off a duck. I am trying to log them in my head so I can pull them out later and feel appreciated. This part of this not investing in things so I don’t get disappointed is rather a pain.
My costume for work is cool and looks really neat but is rather low key (at least for me). This is the last of the costumes for this year. For the count (last year was 6), I might be able to count the Nice Boots party outfit (but only on a technicality, in a “Real Year”, it wouldn’t count), Gaskell’s, yesterday at work (because I am weird) and today. So maybe 4 if I want to stretch it. That should satisfy me. Then I look at all the possibilities that won’t happen and I am saddened. How 7 of me.
I have included pictures of year’s Halloween outfit, for those that are curious. I wonder though. I know at least one person read my last post, although no one has commented on it. Maybe LJ is getting boring to people and comments are fewer. Or maybe it is the direction my LJ has taken. I will have to wait awhile to get some perspective and take a look back to see if I can see a pattern to my posts. I think I know of one but I am too much in the middle to know if it is true.
I am babbling so I will end this here.

*thwack No dear, we’re all still readin’. It’s good to keep up with what’s going on in your life. And I’m bummed that I’m going to miss you at the DHP tonight, especially given the theme.
I really like the first picture, where the twirling fringe makes it look all glow-y!
Looks like it is LJ getting boring and people not commenting so much. It has lost the novelty so people just read and post sometimes.
Careful, I whine and people post. I have gotten posts for this one but not the last one. Scary what this could be training me to do. ;P
I am very disappointed about missing the DHP. I was hopping it was the Oct 5th one and not Oct 31 but alas, my hopes where dashed. I have so many pirate costumes I could wear including the Playschool Pirate that has been waiting for an excuse. But I am being a good girl and doing what I should. I am sure there will be plenty of interesting people that it will be easy to be distracted from missing me.
I love the dress! Though I can see how you would define this as “low key” for you. ^_^
I at least looked at the pictures yesterday. Thank you for posting them — they brought a smile to my face (on a day when that alone would be noteworthy!), and I thought with great fondness, “oh, that is so Gina!”
I may not comment on your entries, but I do always read them. I love it that LJ allows me to keep up on my friends’ lives, even if I am not always an active participant. I think it helps prevent me from drifting out of touch. *shrug* Just my opinion, I guess.
Reading what I have about your day and knowing how you are, I feel very honored to know that I brought a smile to your face. Thank you for letting me know.
There is a show on Disney channel called “That’s so Raven” (the main character’s name is Raven). My life is called “That’s so Gina.”
I too am grateful for the LJ connection between us. For a time now, that is about the only connection we have. But we get a RL connection in two weeks when we take each other to the Cirque!!!! Happy B-day (a little early).
Nice dress! I’m bummed about you not being able to make the party tonight, though.
Ditto. Not much else I can say but Ditto. Silly and for putting it on a busy night and one that turns out that I couldn’t do anything on anyway.
Post on, please. For some of us, it’s as close to seein’ you as we manage most of the time! =)
That’s what I get for having friends with busy lives. I would go for the ones with less going on but I am afraid that would be boring. Besides where would I find them? They don’t do much so I wouldn’t run into them to meet them in the first place.
Costumes
LOVE the dress. Would be loverly @ Gaskills or one of the PEERS events. Yes, it is low key for you, but it’s practical for those of us living in cubicle land. Hoop skirts and cubes don’t mix, trust me on this one. Your GMT costume last year was fun!
I am so lame I didn’t make myself *anything* new for Halloween this year. I’m even wearing the same costume I did last year, only with a few new accessories acquired/made earlier in the year.

Re: Costumes
This was my Winter Gaskell’s dress from two years ago.
This Halloween seems to be a low key one all around. All us crazy costumers seems to be pulling things out of closets this year. You, Robynne, Crystal, Karen, Me. Must be something in the air. Either that or we are getting worn out. Or it could be that we have so many things in our closets that it is silly to make something new right now.
I read your last post – I was clicking madly thru pictures… wonderful costumed Gina pictures… when the baby *DEMANDED* that I come get her out of that crib and pretend I was a responsible mom…
hence no post in comments!!
But M is home now… hence the comment…
You are stunning as usual m’dear!!!
Thank you.
Your excuse is good. Baby wins out over everything. Go Baby!
Mmmm, I love the spinny fringe!
I’ve just been generally commenting less lately, since I hardly have the time to keep up the reading these days, let alone the writing. But I do read, and I enjoyed all your pictures.
Miss you tonight!
i still read your posts. And I looked through your pictures, or at least some of them. I’m sorry I don’t reply much in general but I do all of my week-day surfing at work (which is also why I only had a chance to look through -most- of them) so ‘blogs happen in stolen moments.
